What Goes Up… adventures in theatreland

icarus fell

Last year I embarked on the very exciting adventure of writing a play.

I wrote the whole thing in a week and performed it in front of a very generous audience at the Barnes Fringe in July.

After a few months of editing and thinking Icarus Fell was accepted onto the Battersea Arts Centre’s Freshly Scratched programme and I performed a 10 minute extract from the piece, directed by the brilliant Tom Clutterbuck and with visuals from Lily Keal, at the cavernous Council Chamber.

In December, after some help from the amazing Rob Young courtesy of Apples and Snakes, Tom and I went down to Southampton to workshop the piece and perform a new excerpt at Experiment, a night for new work at the Nuffield Theatre. Hannah, the producer at Nuffield was incredible – this is the first play I have written and performed in and she gave us loads of space to play and feel at ease.

Here I am contemplating a fishing net. Nice.

I’m doing a show at The Vaults festival in Waterloo with the lovely ladies of Scratch That on February 10th, come and check it out!

Next stop – the sky! Well… hopefully…!
